First of all let me say this, I had a dentist appt. today and it took so long. He said, well your teeth are different from everyone else. Apparently your molars are supposed to be larger that your incisor, well mine are not. So, they kept working and taking x-rays...and working....then x-rays... When I was finished, I needed to do something relaxing. I went to Target and Value City Furniture to price bookcases for my craft room. IKEA has the best prices.
I went to Arhaus to get some ideas on recovering my couch, chair, and ottoman. Well, they are having a sale thru the end of the week, so the couch will cost me $800, the chair will cost me $458, and the ottoman will cost me $161.
I could get new furniture for less than $1419. So I don't know. I just bought new pillows for my couch from IKEA--and they look good. But my husband says that we have too many stains on our couch. I will admit our couch is worn and it does have a few stains. But I don't think the stains are that visible.
Whenever you pay as much as I did for this furniture (before I met Dave and his 3 kids), you want to hold on to it. It is a comfortable couch. Yes, the cushions are getting worn-especially the back ones ( it seems like they need more filler). But we are at a point now where all 3 kids are teenagers and we have full custody. Kids are not gentle with furniture, and this furniture has survived 3 kids and a dog. Bottom line---I like the couch. Dave's bottom line-he doesn't like the stains. So, where is the middle ground. If we buy new furniture, I don't think we will get Arhaus quality. And if we get new. Where does my favorite couch go?
Well, I will keep you posted. Until then...
This is me. This is my blog.
Can you just hire one of the carpet cleaning companies to come steam clean your furniture, in hopes of getting the stains out?
ReplyDeleteI never thought of that. It sounds like a good idea--I'll run it by my husband. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIf the stains don't come out, the fabric will look much brighter. I've heard about slipcovers that may work--but do they really stay on?
ReplyDeleteI've used slipcovers on another couch we have, but it really attracted the pet hair. That is one very BIG positive about our couch--the material doesn't attract pet hair.
